Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle
4.5
Pretty solid enjoyable read! Resonated a lot with me as a queer person wanting to get involved in the film + animation industry, and just tell queer stories in general. This story feels very modern and relevant to both the entertainment industry and queer storytelling. At first I wasn't a huge fan of the plot twist regarding the villain, but as the author dived deeper and the story progressed I was thinking "wait, this is actually a very interesting villain concept that shockingly works". It also tapped in to my fears and general dislike of most AI tschnologies. It was incredibly fascinating to see an AI antagonist portrayed in this way. Even when I thought the conflict had been "solved" in reality the AI was still learning and merely evolving. Very glad this was my first intro to Chuck Tingle's works and am very eager to get my hands on Camp Damascus (which btw is very briefly referenced in this book!).
Graphic: Death, Gore, and Homophobia
Moderate: Child abuse
Minor: Drug abuse and Alcohol
