Flowers for Algernon, by Daniel Keyes

4.0

A very thought provoking book that will stay with me for a long long time. The story line is quite predictable. Few pages in, you pretty much know how it would eventually end. The author keeps it that simple, with no unexpected twists or turns. Yet, it takes you through an emotional roller coaster leaving you pondering over a lot of things - about the story, about people and life in general, The author makes no effort to cover up the flaws of the main character. You will feel a range of emotions for Charlie(the protagonist) - adore his innocence, root for him while he goes through the transition, sympathise with him as his past memories reveal one by one leaving him heartbroken, resent him for his arrogance and ego....I can go on and on...
