Honestly it was really close to a 5 star read but it didn’t leave me feeling like my usual 5 star reads. I think this book was pleasantly paced, and I actually rather enjoyed every perspective’s story that was told in that book and how it was interconnecting and weaving. The plot twists are insane. Rowan and Aelin give me hope but for my own sanity I need them to address the lifespan of Aelin being that of a humans and Rowan’s being of fae’s (centuries older than her). Chaol might’ve been what made my rating so low (only a 4.75 lol) because I genuinely hated reading his perspective in the beginning. He blamed Aelin for everything she could not control and then acted like he was more mentally stable than her like man you are actually insane. Aedion is like a comfort character to me now, alongside Lysandra. I’m so glad I got reunited with Fleetfoot, if only for a fleeting moment. I think the kings death was super quickly dismissed and that either is to build a plot twist later or lazy writing… Manon honestly quickly grew to one of my favorites, but her story was honestly a blessing to read when i got to it. Nesryn was a character I was surprised I grew to like too. Sorry not to keep jumping points this is like a rough draft for what i write in my journal, but I fear the ending just felt so rushed, too complete, when we know there is still a lot more to come. I’m glad it had a resolution but it felt like it was attempting to end the series. But with all my complaints I seemed to have so much to say so it at least deserves whatever rank is below the best lol.
