HUNTED (Seasons of Smut Book 1) by Jaylee Fields

3.0

This was a sizzling hot read.

I enjoyed this debut novella. It had great kind representation and authenticity. The kinks were represented well, and as a reader, I appreciated how the author took the time to research and ensure everything was accurate. I also enjoyed the character banter. Both Wendell and Emerald were so raw and honest. They didn’t shy away from being themselves and never failed to remind people that they would still air shit out if needed. I loved Wendell specifically because I appreciated how comfortable he made Emerald feel. He didn’t force him to have it all figured out. Additionally, I loved how I walked away having learned something new from this story. I learned about a lot of kinks I wasn’t aware of, which left me appreciating the kink spectrum so much more.

There were some things that fell flat for me. It took me a while to grasp what was happening in the book. By the time I did, the story was almost over. It seemed there were some holes in the plot, and even with some context at the beginning, it was still difficult to put everything together.

Overall, this was a good debut. I truly appreciated how much research and care was put into writing this. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
