I was not emotionally prepared for this book at all. This is obviously a fake dating romance but don’t expect there to be laugh and giggles for the majority of the book.
I think my heart was aching for the first half of the book because learning about Vienna’s past is just agonizing. Then throw in Dane’s past and I was floundering.
I think what had me so riveted to this book was the tension that I felt throughout it. Some good and some bad. But Dane is such an intense character that I was riveted to how he acted with Vienna and how protective he was.
This is a medium burn when it comes to how fast their physical relation develops but be prepared for a slow burn for the emotional bond to solidify.
I see people have noted this as a lighthearted book, but I would say it’s 25% lighthearted and 75% tense. Only because of the topics that are present in the book.
This is my favorite book I’ve read of 2023 so far.
