This was one of those books that I just couldn’t put down. Although there were no surprises with where the book was going, King writes in a way that keeps you hopeful that things could be different, even after key plot points have run their course. Very emotional, tense at times, and told brilliantly through two narrators, the same man at different points in time.
John Coffey could have had more character development, but if we consider it from the narrator’s standpoint and relationship to his character I guess this could justify the lack of depth.
There are choices in the writing style that I’m not a fan of, but I would still recommend for someone wanting to try a King novel.
