Extremely twisty thriller, and one of the best arguments one can make for going into Leonard novels blind. Twenty-five pages in, and I had trouble explaining the concept to my wife, as it was all just a bunch of characters being introduced with different motivations.
According to an INTERNET COMMENT I've read, apparently Leonard liked to just come up with fully realized characters and then let them bump into each other until a resolution was come to. "Cat Chaser" is a beautiful example of how to do this well.
