Beginner's Luck by Kate Clayborn

5.0

The story
Kit and her two best friends buy a winning lottery ticket. When they win, the two friends decide to make changes in their lives but Kit is determined to keep her lab tech job, buy a home for herself and put down permanent roots in her chosen home town. When corporate recruiter Ben approaches her to join his Houston firm, she is not tempted by the job offer or the attractive package, but she is taken by the handsome guy making the offer. Ben is in town while helping his father who has had an accident, and finding love was definitely not in his plans.

My thoughts
Kate Clayborn’s writing consistently charms, with sparkling romance and special unique characters. This debut story is no different from those that followed. I loved the connection between Kit and Ben, the parallels between their lives and somewhat complicated family relationships. I love how they bond over found vintage hardware for her fixer upper home and putting back the charm into her run down home. It’s a bit of a metaphor for how they come to their relationship, and how finding each other helps them to find the best version of themselves. A gorgeous read ❤️
