A False Start by Elsie Silver

5.0

One thing is guaranteed whenever I pick an Elsie Silver romance....she will make me smile and swoon and then make me fall in love with every character instantly. The final book in the Gold Rush Ranch series is another shining example. Griffin is an amazing hero with his grumpy yet swoonworthy alpha protective personality and Nadia made my heart break for her. Their delicious push and pull, flirty and yet heartaching story is full of all the feels and steamy perfection.

We get the anticipated humour and smoking chemistry but this one has an extra depth of heart. Nadia and Griffin both have difficult pasts that influence their values and ideas about relationships, and their working through and overcoming those challenges is beautifully poignant. The pair made every heartstring tingle. Every emotion the character experiences hits you right in the gut, and there were times when I just wanted to hug them. Despite their varying upbringings, it seemed as if the moment they met, their souls recognised the pain within. As a result, they became one another's solace in the midst of life's chaos.

This crafty storyteller has outdone herself with A False Start, reminding us that it’s valid to feel the fear but then move beyond it with determination, faith and hope. With the perfect mix of humour, heat, and heart, this beautifully poignant, touching story left my romantic heart immensely satisfied while still wanting more of these endearing characters.
