Did not finish book.
i actually dropped this book ages ago but wanted to keep all my readings tracked. i thought the book was unnecessarily cruel by constantly centering its humor on the main character's flaws and underprivileged circumstances. it was constantly brought up at nearly every page to the point of frustration. while i'm not usually opposed to cliches, the execution of this book (writing, plot, characterization, etc) made it unbearable for me to sit through. as a slice of life, i understand what it was trying to do with the message, but 600+ pages of this? yeah, no. it's not for me.
