This did not quite live up to some of MM’s other books. I thought the mystery premise was interesting, but I didn’t like the structure of the book being told backwards. It made the gathering of information confusing, and if you thought about the events of day 13-14 by the time you got to day 1-2, the characters’ actions and reactions didn’t make a ton of sense. I did enjoy the mystery overall — it kept me engaged until the end and I sped through to find out what happened. However, as much as I can appreciate an unreliable narrator, I don’t think that really landed here. Nic seemed genuinely clueless, not like she was suppressing something or remembered things about that night. I could’ve done with a teeny bit more foreshadowing to make the resolution make sense, especially with as much of Nic’s inner dialogue as we got.
Side note: I also didn’t like the multiple assertions that women drive men to commit crimes… yikes

Graphic: Suicide, Car accident, Toxic friendship, and Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Gun violence, Infidelity, and Miscarriage
