As a final book in a trilogy this had big boots to fill. It did that rather well! The ending remained a surprise 'till the very end and I truly find the magic system + different creatures interesting. I like how even the Lord Ruler was shown to have been more than just "pure evil"

Some general thoughts about this trilogy:
+ I enjoyed learning more about Hemalurgy and Ferruchemy in this one, esp Hemalurgy
+ The blurbs before the chapters were the most interesting in this book, because they revealed things in tandem with the story
+ I will probs revisit this world via the second trio of books
- I found the battle scenes eventually a bit boring, because they were all described in the same way (I did not need every Push and Pull to then mention which metal it was being done with)
- I realize these books did not all arrive at once, so the reader probably needed some reminding of what happened previously. I just felt there was a bit too much of that 'previous on'-stuff, to the point which stuff like Vin killing the Lord Ruler or how she lost her mother were said so often it became annoying.
