The Witches' Blade by A.K. Mulford

This highly anticipated sequel did not disappoint me at all. Mulford has a way of drawing the reader into this world and making you love (or hate) the characters. I love authors that make me obsess over their characters and want to devour the world and the story. By the end I am just dying for the next book. Needless to say this high fantasy read had me fully immersed rooting for Rua to find herself, let herself fall in love, and let herself be loved by friends, family, and... So possible spoilers ahead as I cannot contain myself.
Oh Rua, she was angry, she was mad throughout most of the book and yet I loved her character so very much. My young adult teenage self definitely related to her strong emotions and way she felt about herself and family. I enjoyed watching her character grow into herself and her role in her new family.
Renwick I am obsessed with thank you very much Ms. Mulford.
This was one of my favorite quotes:
"He looked at her like she was the golden dawn. “I would tear down the sky for you,” he promised, leaving her with one last kiss."
I did also really enjoy the juxtaposition between Remy and Rua. Reading how Remy coped with the extreme loss compared now to Rua really showed the influences in their life and how it helped shape two sisters that started in the same place. This is just the work of a skilled writer and storyteller that is AK Mulford.
All in all this scatter brained review is to tell you that if you enjoyed The High Mountain Court I feel that you will enjoy this, but now Rua is not quite as loveable as her big sister and that's is what makes me love her more.
