A Curse So Dark and Lonely, by Brigid Kemmerer

4.0

Man alive, I love it when someone peers into my soul and writes the exact book I want to read. Magical fantasy, gateways to other worlds, retelling beloved fairy tales in fresh and inventive ways... Delicious. I loved Nora and her fierce determination to overcome obstacles flung her way. The dynamics with Rhen and Grey were fascinating, and the teasing plot threads left hanging at the end helped me get over my usual disappointment that this was the first in the series rather than a beautifully self-contained tale. 2020 is too long to wait for the next book though!
