Confessions of the Fox by Jordy Rosenberg

4.0

Confessions of the Fox by Jordy Rosenberg is truly something else. It is wonderfully written #ownvoices metafiction that tells the tale of early eighteenth century thief, Jack Sheppard, and his lover Bess.

In this retelling, Jack is transgender, as is the scholar who is annotating the manuscript. This annotation leads to two very different stories running simultaneously throughout the book and as a self-confessed sucker for footnotes, I adored this.

If you decide to pick up a copy of Confessions of the Fox, be aware that it is NOT YA and that it has some very sexually graphic wording. Other than that it's a really interestingly different read.

Many thanks to @atlanticbooks for sending me a free review copy of Confessions of the Fox!
