The Lovers by John Connolly

5.0

Another strand is woven into connolly’s web of mythology, continuing on from revelations from The Black Angel. It gives a really interesting insight into the overarching plot but The Lovers is also a compelling story in itself.

Loved the idea of
a parasitic spirit, moving from host to host. I like this a lot more than simply just being a demon but in human form, which is what’s been suggested Brightwell, Mr Pudd etc, have been so far.

Sometimes explaining things too much can be a detriment but this idea makes it all more horrible. Things are explained just enough to add a new layer, but still leaving enough mystery to keep things intriguing.

Also enjoyed burrowing into the past of Charlie’s father and the circumstances of his death. It all tied together well. Looking forward to the next one!
