Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness

4.0

4.5 stars rounded down — but I still love this series!

Overall, the way the author communicates Matthew & Diana’s time in 1590 is educational and exciting. I actually just prefer the slight shifts in the timeline they used in the tv series because it gave Diana more time to work on her power, making the abilities she finds towards the end and in the third book more believable as opposed to rushed.

There were also some events that occur that seem unlikely to not have drawn attention from humans and thus interference from the congregation. But not enough to be a huge demerit to the rating.

If you enjoyed the first book, don’t wait to continue the series!
