Unravel Me by Becka Mack

Did not finish book. Stopped at 24%.
I will preface this review by saying I did not read the description nor did I read any reviews before starting the book. That being said, what happened to Beck Mack in between book #2 and this one?????  I can't believe the first two books were written by the same author as Unravel Me. I make no claims that book 1&2 were perfect, but they were so much better than this one. This was brutal!! The dialogue was childish, the behaviour was childish, the humour was childish - everything felt like it was written by a 16 year old trying to guess what adult life is like. Also I get that this series is meant to be found family, and so you're going to have the side characters popping up now and then, but there was absolutely too much reliance on characters from past books. Also also, I cannot believe Rosie
has a kid... And not because having a kid is unbelievable, but because we spend a whole chapter (maybe 2??) in Rosie's head and she never thinks about her kid once?? Like wth??
That's actually a pretty well-known rule of fiction writing - don't hide something from your readers that your character already knows. It leaves us confused and annoyed. Most editors will suggest that big reveals work better if the reader knows and gets to surprise the other character(s) alongside the POV character, OR nobody knows and it's a surprise for all characters.

All that to say, this was kinda trash and I rarely DNF books but I just can't bring myself to continue.
