So I definitely understand what Audrey and her mother struggle with when it comes to their relationship. I feel like a lot of immigrant first Gen Americans and their mothers have this strained part of themselves that they wrestle with. Audrey knows she doesn’t want to stay in a small town that was really for her. But when she comes back for Christmas / New Year’s with her white fiancé, she sees things in a new light. I did feel like Audrey wasn’t always the most likable character but I kind of understood why. She had no way to really express herself growing up and now in New York, she can be her own person. I liked the ending compared to other people.
it was encouraging to see Audrey end up being single at the end. Ben turned out to be ick and Kyle was just a crush that never was meant to be.
