- easy read: i found myself in a reading slump at the start of reading this book, so it being easy to read was something that mattered a lot to me :). it was fast-paced and entertaining ^^

:
u can say anything you want about the smut.
he fit her entire boob into his mouth??? did he not dislocate his jaw???
i get it!! but i do really like the way Ali Hazelwood writes smut scenes.

a problem i find with many smut scenes in books is that they read very... "he claimed me. his masculine manhood dominated my feminine womanhood 🥺 he's so masculine and alpha. he growled." girl, NO. ENOUGH.

the way Ali writes these scenes, in my opinion, feels very natural. yes, you can poke fun at certain things, but i don't think it makes the parts unenjoyable. ^^

- chemistry: Adam and Olive have chemistry. argue with the wall.

- yearning: Ali Hazelwood loves men who
fall for the main character soon after they meet her and therefore spend years yearning after said main character because they think she doesn't like them back
and honestly, me too. i get it girlie.

- biases: am i a little biased because this was my first romance novel and therefore my introduction into reading for fun? yeah and i'm not really sorry about it tbh lmao 💯

⭒ dislikes:

- descriptions: honestly, i wasn't as annoyed as other people were with the constant reminders that Adam was tall lmaoo. it was great to poke fun at, tho.

HOWEVER!!! i do think that the time spent describing Adam as a giant (and a good chunk of its synonyms) could've been spent describing and developing other characters in the book. wasn't Malcom black???!! i spent a good chunk of the book imagining him another way and was suddenly hit with that revelation??? did i just not clock it sooner??? maybe it was just a personal experience. my point still stands, though!!!

i feel a similar way with Olive, as well. i feel like we could've delved deeper into her past, and her
relationship with her mom or the years after her mom's passing.
it felt like a missed opportunity to develop Olive's character more.

- miscommunication as a main point of conflict: y'all are 26 and 34 years old! grown people!! i understand miscommunication is a really common cause of conflict in real life, but it's still something i dislike in books. communicate with your loved ones!!

- fanfic-like: the book did read like fanfiction, at times. and though i didn't usually mind this while reading, sometimes the situations made the story unserious in a way that kinda took away from it ^^

- peer pressure isn't cool, guys!!!: why was Anh peer pressuring Olive's every interaction with Adam!!! like girl let her breathe!!1

was this the pinnacle of literature? no. it wasn't trying to be. that's what makes it fun!

i understand how people feel about the book, and i respect their opinions. this isn't the type of book i would reccommend to everyone. but, at the end of the day, i still had a mostly fun reading experience and i do think there are people who would enjoy this book! and that's totally valid!!
