Kaneshiro's writing plays out like a comic strip. It's amusing. The main character, Sugihara, is endearing but annoying and very full of himself. I respect his devotion to the search to find out what defines him. Like most teens, he's striving to see where he fits in the world and what makes him who he is in a country that hates him for being Korean. And there's some love, but that was less interesting to me than Sugihara's personal growth.
