Little Fires Everywhere, by Celeste Ng

4.0

Very uniquely written - the narrator seamlessly moves in and out of focus from the view of all the characters. The book is very character driven and the author doesn't spare details that helps you understand, relate and be pulled into the story. It's a slow starter but worth the time as the story starts to pick up speed and come together. Themes on motherhood, regret, being true to yourself, family identity, and the power of secrets.

I have not seen the TV series but understand the book and TV diverge in key ways. The book starts with the ending, and then the rest of the book helps answer the key question of the first chapter - how did these people end up here in this situation? What lead to this highly dramatic and explosive ending?
