The Village Show by Rebecca Shaw

4.0

Craddock Fitch is determined to be seen as “Lord of the Manor” and, as such, is doing things the Big House used to do. The upcoming Village Show has everybody excited, but there are potential delays about to come up. The Rector once again finds himself being admired by a woman. Is a scandal about to happen again? Will Caroline put up with any more from him?

This one seemed more on the tamer side than the previous three. It's still an enjoyable read, but not as dramatic, with few deaths or accidents. I love how they’re light, easy to read, and don’t require much thought.

Poor Pat. She didn’t have a good time, not with the village gossipers spreading rumours about her new man. I’m rooting for them.

Louise Bissett was a strange woman. Her infatuation with the Rector was almost creepy. She was lovely and likeable at the end. Getting over her infatuation with Peter and getting a job at the Big House gave her a world of good, that and finding herself a lover. Although, as of yet, she’s keeping that knowledge to herself, I can’t imagine for long, not within a small village.

Craddock Fitch is a sly one. He’s up to no good and only looking after his interests. I’m hoping the villagers turn against him or he changes his attitude because he isn’t as likeable as he is.
