Sonali goes into the depths of her despair through her words. What she went through is highly traumatic, something I can never imagine happening to anyone. I'm from Sri Lanka and witnessed just one family member who went through the Tsunami and lost their home. A year after the Tsunami, I helped rebuild homes on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, and the cries of women who lost their families is a sound that haunts me to this day. It's a sadness that cannot be replaced. Sonali does not shy away from detailing the reality of the way she dealt/deals with her emotions and the people around her. There are so many beautiful pockets of moments she describes that just, broke my heart. I highly recommend this book.
