This novel is a great glimpse into the reality of hurricane Katrina. It is a great story that is based of real stories and facts of the hurricane while the character was not a real person. I enjoyed the focus on the people and relationships and how those were affected by this disaster, not just focused on the physical aspects. This book would be good for middle/upper elementary students (ages 9-12 y/o) when learning about different parts of U.S. history. Interesting novel!
