Kudos to the cleverness, I loved working my way halfway through the book, and then turning it upside down and reading a new but intertwined story. The author has a lot of fun playing with perspective, and sometimes knowing what had happened in Lyra's story made Gemma's all the more intriguing (sometimes it worked in reverse though - knowing a character's eventual fate made for a disconnect). And the ever unravelling mystery of Haven was compelling. I didn't think about this book much when I wasn't reading it, which is why I have gone for three stars, but future entries in the series will hopefully be worth seeking out.
