3.5

A thought inspiring insight into the gradual corruption of a young gentlemen, Wilde's only novel is an exceptional concept that is well executed. Rich in language and description, this is an aspect of the novel that provides a vivid insight into the hedonistic nature of the main characters, but also at times is overdone, and slows down the pace of the plot too unnecessarily. An absolute must read for the brilliant concept and plot, but the reader may become fatigued by the excessive descriptive writing style.
