  • Strong character development? No

The premise pulled me in but the story didn’t deliver what it set out to. We barely learn about the main character’s new love for books and neighbourhood. The story quickly turns to be all about the overly dramatic personal problems of an unlikeable character who we only meet halfway through the novel (Momoko). The characters’ reactions & responses to problems in the story feel artificial and immature. Cute quick read, but not for me— too childish and cartoony.
