As with the first book in this series, you really need to give it a few chapters to warm up. The prose is dense (by design) and the plot is thin on the ground at first.

If you enjoyed the first Emily Wilde book, you will love this! The descriptions of magic, Folk, and the various flora and fauna are, once again, vivid and exciting to read, and Emily's footnotes make a return too. At times, it made me feel like a child reading The Magic Faraway Tree!

I am excited to read the next, but sad it seems to be the final one.
