Katharine Parr: The Sixth Wife by Alison Weir

4.0

I particularly enjoyed this one, partly I think because Katharine Parr seems like one of King Henry's more sensible wives, although maybe that's just in contrast to Kathryn Howard in the last book, who definitely was not. It was also kind of gratifying to see somebody outlive that guy. Katharine was portrayed as an experienced woman who was aware of and able to cope with the machinations of being at court. I was never troubled by the thought that anybody was using her as a pawn. She had a strong sense of why she married Henry and what she hoped to accomplish as Queen of England. I didn't realize before that the religious clashes that were weakening England were so nuanced; it seems there was far more going on than simply Catholic Or Protestant. I found Katharine a sympathetic character and I enjoyed this book. I'm sorry to see the series end.
