The List by Yomi Adegoke

3.5

WOW, I have so many thoughts!

To begin, I found this extremely difficult to get into- seriously considered not finishing. However, I'm glad I did persevere because the plot did pick up speed and become more interesting as the story continued.

I did and always do find it very difficult to read/listen to relationship issues where the problem is communication (common trope). But this novel had the added layer of nuance of conflicting perspectives and the nuances of feminist issues in theory and practice. I honestly am not sure how I would react in this situation, but I definitely would not have made some of the choices that Ola did.

Still, super interesting and the twist at the end did pull things together but also really frightened me- so, yes. A story I will be thinking about for a long time.
