Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez

  • Loveable characters? Yes

5.0

This was just utterly charming. My only critique is that I wish it didn’t end - I want more of Alexis and Daniel!

• Age gap (37f 28 m)
• small town romance
• found family
• class differences
• Dr x carpenter
• cute dog x baby goat
• dual PoV

🌶️🌶️ (with some closed door aspects)

Such a sweet romcom that has some perfect moments romantic moments whilst having some strong and well developed supporting characters.

|Synopsis|
Alexis is a Dr who is part of the prestigious Montgomery family. After breaking up with her boyfriend/ chief of surgery she meets the charming Daniel, a B&B owner in a small town.

Will they be able to overcome the fact that they’re from two different worlds?

|Thoughts|
(Updated after a reread)
The dynamic with her family is also interesting whilst also being horrifying. Her father is on another level, some of the toxicity that comes out of his mouth is baffling.

“And? Did it ever occur to you that your dad is just as emotionally abusive as Neil?

Have to agree with Bri when she says:
“Imagine being a whole-ass doctor and having your family be like, ‘why are you so disappointing?’

Story also deals with some darker topics like emotion and physical abuse.

“I believe you. I can handle anything you need to tell me. You don’t need to protect me from the truth and I’m here to help you in any way I can. It’s not your fault. And you don’t deserve it.”

Daniel is an absolute cinnamon roll and needs to be protected at all costs. And he organises the most romantic date (drive in and dinner choosing game).

“Well you don’t steal a hoodie and not wear it. Otherwise it’s just another senseless crime”

Heartbreaking that their lives put a strain on their relationship.
I can forgive the third act break up in this one.

“The world is ending, Alexis. That’s what this feels like. So come with me now.”

Bonus points for the addition of a clueless cute dog.

“All dogs are good boys. Even this one”
