Teen Titans #3 by Jonboy Meyers, Benjamin Percy

5.0

Percy delivers in a big way on the promise of this team dynamic. Damian, Wally, Raven, and Starfire all share "bad blood" that haunts their history. Their desire to do good comes from a repudiation of the evil in their genealogy. In that way, the character interactions between the four draw out important aspects of each character and their motivation for becoming superheroes. Though Damian quickly turns to thinking of the others as his friends, the interactions between him and Wally convey a sense of genuine friendship. This mirrors the dynamic between pre-New 52 Wally and Dick in the concurrently running Titans series. If Titans is successful because of its adherence to convention and awareness of history, Teen Titans is successful for all the ways it bucks convention and envisions a radically different future of heroism.
