This is a strong sequel to The Hunger Games.
On this re-read the implications of the 75th Hunger Games and the implications felt by the victors and even the citizens of the capital to some extent.

It’s also jarring just how young Katniss is. She is extremely hard on herself and a lot of what she is feeling is normal in her circumstances.

Some of her comments about not wanting children I can sympathise with now as an adult. Not sure what it was about her sentiments when I read them the first time being much younger but I can completely understand why she doesn’t want children who could have their name pulled out for to ‘play’ in the games.

In a weird way, and not to see the games as entertainment (although as readers we are sort of like the capital, gaining entertainment out of the games). The design of the arena was fairly intelligent.

Although, really not sure why the Snow thought it would be a good idea to send well known and liked victors back into the arena.

Tik Tok.

Listened to the audiobook narrated by Tatiana Maslany.
