The Enigma by Jodi Ellen Malpas

4.0

"She's toxic. But to me, she's a balm. And I'm fatal. But to her, I'm life."

James Kelley also known as The Enigma was totally intense, violent, secretive and also a big softie for Beau. He was supposed to stop her but fell in love with her instead. From the first moment they interacted, Beau & James brought a simle on my face. In the first half however, I didn't feel so connected with them but I started to warm up to them as the story progressed and their past was explained. I felt like the middle part was dragged a lot but the last half particularly from 78% or so started becoming funny and then suddenly, Beau & James pack up, escape and enter into a whole new world out of nowhere and the book ends in a HFN kind of situation. Basically, I can see that the whole plot of this series is well planned and I loved the interesting twists that left me playing the guessing game. I loved the trill and mystery of finding out the truth and more than that, I loved to see a strong female character like Beau. Yes, she was lost and broken but being with James helped her a lot and I feel like she'll slowly be back to her old self, she just needs some time to grieve properly. Hopefully we see her actually getting her rainbows and sunshine ending in the next book. I'm so excited to read the next book and find out what happens next!
