Another Country by James Baldwin

5.0

This might be the most devastating and incredible book I've ever read. Baldwin writes about the excruciating and wonderful aspects of love so honestly that some of his lines literally made my jaw drop. His observations about racial identity in American society, identity within a relationship, and love as a source of light and trauma are at once disturbing and honest and stark. I was so moved by this novel. It will stay with me.
