Raising Your Spirited Child: A Guide for Parents Whose Child Is More Intense, Sensitive, Perceptive, Persistent, and Energetic by Mary Sheedy Kurcinka

4.0

I found this book worthwhile, even though I don't know that my kids are "spirited". The author's breakdown of "spirit" traits - intensity, sensitivity, etc. - and how they affect children's ability to to function was useful, as was her step-by-step breakdown of how to address difficult situations (essentially: anticipate issues, set realistic goals, make a plan, appreciate small successes). However, much of the space was taken up by anecdotes (which were occasionally interesting, but not very useful unless one's child has the same issue) and most of the concrete strategies were obvious or familiar from other parenting books.
