Rosemary's Baby by Ira Levin

3.0

I feel like 3 is a generous rating, but I'm not a horror reader, so I don't want to tank it unduly.

I did like the storytelling in this, which is shocking because older books written by men don't usually sit well with me. But I really enjoyed that part of the book. The plot, however...

So anticlimactic, and you knew everything from the beginning. You pretty much were just waiting for the one character to figure it out. Then the big reveal happens, annnnndddddd.... ya nothing, book ends. Not even in an inviting suspenseful way, literally with you feeling disappointed, with like a wtf scowl.

I was also told that going into this, it was a feminist critique on domestic abuse perpetuated through institutional religions, and it's not that... like at all.
