Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe

5.0

A wonderful tale of survival and the resilience of the human spirit, all packaged in a dramatic adventure form. The passages regarding Friday and the Carib natives will make modern readers uncomfortable (references to "savage creatures" and a general tone of white moral superiority), as may some of the overtly Christian reflections. However the book is a product of its time and has much more to offer. Most of all, it was just good entertainment with enough action to maintain interest.
