Well if I thought Dark Rise had a lot going on, I was not prepared for this! It’s almost cinematic in its action sequences, fantastical elements, and dramatic scenes. I do think the exposition in the first book paid off because even though there’s so much going on in Dark Heir, it’s much more action-packed and instead of having to do so much world building, it’s focused on fleshing that all out, exploring each character, and well, playing with your emotions!! I don’t know. It actually just had me yelling at my kindle, so maybe I should try rewriting this review once I’ve collected my thoughts because talk about a rollercoaster! And I haven’t even caught my breath yet.
Not saying it’s like a telenovela but not not saying it’s like a telenovela. All the drama and deception and twists and concealed identities and complicated, interwoven relationships…chef’s kiss
