I really enjoyed this book. It is definitely slow-paced for a majority of the book but ultimately worth it. Whoever says it’s medium or fast paced is lying. I like the ending, but was a little disappointed. This was my first serious, sci-fi novel and I look forward to reading more. I’m going to read The Martian next.

Also those putting suicide as a content warning on here are incorrect. Look at info under my content warnings that goes into greater detail.
Graphic: Confinement, Death, Suicidal thoughts, Grief, and Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Medical content and Fire/Fire injury
Minor: Death, Drug use, Excrement, and Alcohol
There is NO suicide in this book. Dont reject this book for that reason. There is talk of assisted suicide due to this being a suicide mission but no one is suicidal and the act never takes place. Those putting suicide as a content warning are wrong.

Detailed specifics below:

Towards the middle, the astronauts are asked how they would like to die in specifics. One person chooses to die from nitrogen, another chooses a heroin overdose (she’s never done heroin before and just wants to try it), and the last one chooses a gun. None of these actually happen. During the mission the most suicidal thoughts only happen probably a handful of times at most and it just is that the character says “I’m going to die” because it is a suicide mission, but never wants to or tries to. All the deaths are natural causes and no suicides
