The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times by Michelle Obama
3.0
"Any time there's another injustice, another round of brutality, another incident of failed leadership, I get letters and emails that pose some form of this same question. Are we still supposed to be going high? Okay, what about now? My answer is yes. Still yes. We need to keep trying to go high. We must commit and recommit ourselves to the idea. Operating with integrity matters. It will matter forever." (p.274)
Unlike her first book, Becoming, which was a traditional memoir, The Light We Carry is more of a compilation of life advice, peppered with personal anecdotes. Michelle's intelligence and positive outlook permeate throughout, making this a hopeful read.
I LOVE Michelle Obama, so it really pains me to say this, but I found this book a little bit boring. I wanted to love it, but I just couldn't stay interested as it meandered along.
