The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas

3.0

I know that this will appear to blasphemy to some, but I had a very hard time enjoying this book.

The musketeers are, in my opinion, extremely unlikeable (d'Artagnan included). Their characters have not aged well. True, they are gallant and Noble, but they have such terrible flaws that it took away from my appreciation of their characters. I disliked d'Artagnan so strongly that I found myself wishing that the book were shorter.

The characters that were truly interesting were the women, but we did not see as much of them unfortunately. The most exciting g part of the book for me was Milady's imprisonment in the later part of the book.

I can appreciate the novelty of the adventure and the sprit in the authors writing. I adore Alexandre Dumas' style, as well as the various themes he manages to sneak in. But unfortunately the good points were just not enough for me to give this a 4 star rating.
