‘there is nowhere in existence you could go that i wouldn’t find you violence’

this book is a total rollercoaster of twists and had me hooked right from the beginning! it never got boring or made me want to just skim through, and for once, the hype totally lived up to it! it has the best mix of fantasy and romance! It's got super steamy romance scenes, tons of sexual tension, and enough twists to keep you up all night.

in the beginning, general sorrengail pushes Vviolet into joining rider's quadrant, where people bond with dragons, which goes against her plan of becoming a scribe like her father. this leaves her feeling angry and fearful, as the decision is made by her mother, leaving her no choice. despite her chronic illness and weak joints, she proves herself to be incredibly strong and resilient, facing challenges head-on. her relatable personality immediately draws the reader in, as she battles anxieties and fears within the quadrant, using her intelligence to overcome obstacles. her journey showcases the power of knowledge and resilience, as she navigates a rollercoaster of emotions, never allowing others to undermine her strength. i love that she was strong headed rather than the girl waiting for a hero.

‘fascinating. you look all frail and breakable, but you're a violent little thing, aren't you?’

the chemistry in this book was done so so well. i was literally kicking and screaming through every xaden and violent encounter it was unreal. the sexual tension and the banter literally made it so much better. i wouldn’t say it’s an enemies to lovers romance more of a forbidden romance in the sense that xaden is seen as a ‘villian’. but we all the know the villains are the best types! he literally reminds me of theo james and ugh i need to kiss this man please - i think i found my new husband
