Every Time We Meet at the Dairy Queen, Your Whole Fucking Face Explodes by Carlton Mellick III

4.0

I loved this. I really did. The Great Gatsby it is not, but that’s ok.
Sometimes you just want a little fun book, a palette cleanser if you will, and that’s what we have here.

Bizarro fiction is like Goosebumps for grown ups. You have to just switch off that part of the brain that accepts rational events and suspend your logic high above your head and enjoy the ride.

This was cute, graphic, ridiculous and tragic…. But let’s be honest, I could have just been describing Romeo & Juliet. And we love that too!
I liked everything about it and while it’s definitely not a genre that would be a mainstay for me, I could happily see myself slotting more like this into my reading.

I’ll say it again: Goosebumps. For. Grownups.
