This book was written in 1994 and it doesn’t carry over. I think it rings very true today, especially 4 years into the COVID Pandemic. The way the community of Clifton is not only segregated because of the time period the book takes place in (or the year the town is based in) is pre-Civil war. The book is so unique! The main character being the oldest sister is so cute because she will do anything to help her family!
