Praying the Bible by Donald S. Whitney

4.0

Although not original to Whitney in the least, this method that he lays out in his work is probably the best and easiest approach to prayer that I am aware of - made even easier by Whitney's simple approach to application of the method.

Essentially one of the hardest things for Christians to do is to pray consistently and biblically. It's hard because our culture and generation typically leaves all the praying to the pastor. But as Whitney shows, we all need to participate and we have a book that shows us how. Take the Psalms for example: there was a verse that I committed to memorize back in the day, Psalm 119:9 to be exact, and the way that one prays the bible is to read through it and pray that God would bring to pass those things in our own lives. So my verse would be praying for a heart that is pure, one that admires the word of God and commits its truths to practice, that my way would be directed by God, and that I would trust Him with the course of my life. It is very easy when you think about it, but many overlook this method because of wrong assumptions about prayer.

In any event, it was pretty helpful.
