“Who the hell cared about another dead Afghan kid?”

i’ve put off reading this book for months because i’ve been warned that it would break my heart. writing this review, three hours before i’m meant to wake up and get ready for my grandmother’s funeral, i have to say that i disagree. of course, it has broken my heart a little bit, but it has made me to feel more than than i have allowed myself to in a long time. in this book, i have felt the suffering of an entire nation, and yet it does not feel enough. i know that i will feel this way for a few days and then move on with my life, but i hope i will carry a small part of this book with me. to be reminded of the suffering that we ignore every day.
