A Single Swallow by Ling Zhang

4.0

I’m rounding up from a 3.5ish in this review. Having just finished it I’m still not quite sure how I really feel about it.

It’s beautifully written. I learned about a part WWII that I knew nothing about. I found that the way it’s written from an all male perspective (not counting the dog chapter-please read my eye roll here) uniquely illustrated the treatment of women at the time. But overall, at the end, this novel is missing something for me. I would still recommend it to others, I just didn’t love it.
