Sweet Ache by K. Bromberg
4.0
This is book six in the Driven series but is a complete standalone. I have not read the first five books and had no trouble with this story at all. I wanted to read this before Sweet Regret is released later this year.
Hawkin Play is the lead singer of the rock band, Bent. He has an identical twin brother, Hunter, who causes him nothing but troubles. The latest incident could lead Hunter to jail if Hawkin doesn't take the fall and pretend it was him. As part of looking good to the judge, Hawkins agrees to guest lecture at the local college. It's there that he meets his teaching assistant, Quinlan, or AKA Trixie. She's not looking to date even though she finds Hawkin sexy. Their initial banter is so fun. You can feel their chemistry.
Though this is their love story, it also deals with some darker issues with Hawkin's past with his father and currently his mother. He has an issue with trying to protect everyone he loves and that eventually includes Quinlan.
This is so emotional and quite steamy read. I've been reading this author's newer works and feel like they aren't as steamy as this book is. I am looking forward to Vince, Hawkin's best friend and fellow band member's story in Sweet Regret.
